B\V Winery Dominates Major Wine Categories at Prestigious Le Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg in France
B\V Winery has claimed top honors in the main wine categories at the prestigious Le Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg competition in France, making it the most successful Czech winery at the event. The winery is bringing home one of the competition’s top awards, the Prix VINOFED. The best dry wine of the entire competition is Chardonnay RESERVA 2018, which was also named the champion in the Chardonnay category. This outstanding achievement was further highlighted by B\V Winery securing three additional category champions.
This success has made B\V Winery the most successful Czech winery at this prestigious exhibition. The "VINOFED Prize for the Best SEC White Wine in the World in 2023" was awarded to Chardonnay 2018 RESERVA, batch no. 1837.
The winery dominated four major categories. In addition to the overall victory in the dry wine category, it also won in the Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Sauvignon categories.
"We are extremely pleased to have continued the extraordinary success of our wines in this competition and, in fact, to have surpassed it. Winning the title for the best dry wine of the entire competition, along with victories in four other categories, is an incredible honor. We deeply appreciate this recognition and take great pride in representing Czech wines on the international stage," said Ing. Vlastimil Valenta, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of B\V Winery.
"Chardonnay 2018 RESERVA is made from grapes grown in our 45-year-old vineyards in Ratíškovice. It has a golden-yellow color, with delicate fruit aromas dominated by yellow-fleshed peaches and complemented by tropical notes. The taste is full-bodied, harmonious, with a refreshing acidity, long and complex, as the wine was aged for 12 months on fine lees in a large French oak barrel. It is an elegant, grand wine suitable for bottle aging," described Jiří Toman, winemaker and cellar master at B\V Winery.
Other Czech wineries also excelled at the competition. The best Sylvaner in its category was awarded to a wine from Chateau Valtice.

The competition took place on April 15-16, 2023, in Strasbourg. The international wine competition Le Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg is held under the patronage of the OIV (International Organisation of Vine and Wine) and VINOFED.
B\V Winery has been recognized in prestigious competitions in previous years as well. In Strasbourg in 2020, Chardonnay RESERVA 2017 was named the best dry white wine and was later ranked among the top eleven white wines in the world by experts. In 2021, the winery dominated the Traminer category with its 2018 vintage, and last year, it won the Sylvaner category with RESERVA 2019.
