Our 2018 Red Wines Are Winning International Medals
The great red wines of the 2018 vintage are already gaining recognition at prestigious international competitions. The Concours International des Cabernet, held this May in Limas, France, annually honors wines made from Cabernet varieties.
"In fierce competition, especially among French wines made from Cabernet grapes, we succeeded with our exceptional Cabernet RESERVA 2018. This wine belongs to our premium RESERVA collection. We placed high hopes in the great red wines of the 2018 vintage, and we are thrilled to see them continuing the success of our 2015 vintage. Growing Cabernet Sauvignon in our climate remains a significant challenge, which makes this achievement even more rewarding," says Vlastimil Valenta, CEO of B\V Winery.
Cabernet Sauvignon RESERVA 2018 (Batch No. 1846)
This wine was aged for 24 months in oak barrels, allowing the wood to impart noble tannins. It displays a deep garnet color, with a complex aroma of blackcurrant complemented by notes of tobacco. On the palate, it is powerful, well-balanced, slightly astringent, and exceptionally long-lasting. Thanks to its aging in French oak barrels, it has a silky texture and pairs beautifully with beef steaks or game meats. This is an elegant, grand wine suitable for bottle aging.
The Concours International des Cabernet is partnered with the Union de la Sommellerie Française, an organization representing 1,200 sommeliers, which also selects the best sommelier in France. In 2023, only 36 wines worldwide received a gold medal out of 200 entries, and B\V Winery was the only Czech winery to be awarded.
